National March for Palestine on May 29th, 2021 in Washington DC

The Islamic Circle of North America’s Council for Social Justice (ICNA CSJ) invites our community of supporters to attend a national rally for Palestine on this Saturday, May 29th, 2021 in Washington, D.C. We are hosting this event with our partners, including AMP, USCMO, CAIR, MUNA, and others to raise a voice against the injustice committed by the Israeli government against the Palestinan people.
For weeks, rising tensions have led to a full scale attack on Gaza, in which hundreds of lives have been lost, most notably, the lives of young children. This violence escalated during the holy nights of Ramadan, as Palestinians were engaged in prayer. It has been accompanied by the removal of Palestinians from their homes in Sheikh Jarrah by settlers, an act that violates international law.
“As Muslims dedicated to social justice, we are asked to stand up against injustice with our actions and our voices.” Says Dr. Bukhari, Executive Director of ICNA Council for Social Justice.
We ask that you join us in boycotting Isreali products, and companies that benefit from Israel’s illegal occupation and annexation of Palestinian land. We also ask that you call your representatives, and tell them to #sanctionisrael, so that your tax dollars are not spent to murder and displace the palestinian poeple.
We are calling for a national march on Washington, DC w/ USCMO and our partners on Saturday, May 29 at 3PM starting at the Lincoln Memorial.

Alhumdulillah, Over the past weekend, thousand & thousands of Americans of all backgrounds, especially the Arab youth and women, showed their solidarity with the Palestinian people. However, the situation of Palestine, especially in Gaza, is worsening every day as the Israeli bombardment continues.
You can do the following to keep the momentum:
  • Call the White House hotline at (202) – 456 – 1111, and register your complaints on the US Government handling of the Palestinian issue.
  • Call House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Gregory Meeks and demand he place a hold on weapons to Israel at (202) – 225 – 5021.
  • Contact your Representative by calling (202) – 224 – 3121, and ask them to cosponsor HR2590, a bill which would prohibit US weapons for Israel’s forced displacement of Palestinians, for its ill-treatment of Palestinian children, and its annexation of Palestinian land.
  • Join local protests and be active on Social Media.
  • Follow CSJ on social media to get the latest updates and event announcements.

Eid Mubarak!

Dear Sisters in Islam!

Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuhu!

It is reported by Ibn Abbas (R), “On the day of Eid al-Fiṭr, the angels descend toward the earth and stand at the openings of the paths calling out in a voice that can be heard by all of God ’s creation—aside from men and jinns—saying, “O Ummah of Muhammad (SAW)! Come before a Generous Lord who will give you plenty and forgive great sins!” And when they come out to the musallah, God the Glorious, The Majestic then says to His angels, “O my angels! What is the recompense for the worker when he completes his duties?” They will reply, “Our Lord and Our Master! That you give them their full reward.” So, He says, “Verily, I testify to you that I have rewarded them for their fasting and their salat with My pleasure and My forgiveness. Depart ye all, forgiven.” (This has been reported by Salamah bin Shabīb in the book The Merits of Ramadan, and in others.)
On behalf of ICNA Sisters, I would like to wish you all a very blessed Eid Mubarak! May Allah accept all your intentions and good deeds done in this month solely to please Him and multiply your rewards many times over, ameen!
Dear sisters, as you rightfully enjoy and celebrate this momentous occasion, let us remember on this day of festivities our brothers and sisters in Palestine, Kashmir, Syria, our Rohingya and Uyghur brothers and sisters and wherever humanity is facing oppression. We pray for them, we stand by them in solidarity and ask Allah to relieve them of the tyrannical oppression, ameen. We also plead with our Lord to please remove the unimaginable trials of our Yemeni and Indian brothers and sisters.  Allahumma ameen!
Even though we are still in a global pandemic with cases skyrocketing in certain parts of the world, nonetheless we must realign our priorities and practices for the coming years as the Day of Judgment draws near and if we have learned anything it is that our life is short and very unpredictable. Al-Hasan (R) said, “Increase in seeking forgiveness from God for you know not when God’s mercy will descend.” And Luqman said to his son, “O my son, accustom your tongue to seek forgiveness, for God has certain hours during which no seeker will be rejected.”
Dear sisters, as this month of Ramadan is quickly departing as it quickly came, let us avail every opportunity to get closer to our Lord. Whoever from you spent it well should complete the month with even more zeal.  And whoever is falling behind should finish it in the best manner, for the reward of actions are determined by their ending.
Once again, Eid Mubarak!
تَقَبَّلَ اللهُ مِنَّا وَمِنكُم

‘Taqaballahu minna wa minkum
(may Allah accept from you and us ).”
Abeer Sher,
President-ICNA Sisters.

Al-Quds Needs You

—IMMEDIATE RELEASE--

NEW YORK, NY (May 11, 2021) – We on behalf of the US Council of Muslim Organizations (USCMO) write to you with heavy hearts during these final days of the holy month of Ramadan. Our Palestinian siblings have endured relentless violence at the hands of the Israeli occupation forces in the sacred site of Al-Aqsa for the past several days. As of writing this, 20 have reportedly been killed (including 9 children) and over 800 have been injured.

Hundreds of residents of the Jerusalem neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood are on the verge of expulsion from their homes, and armed settlers and Israeli soldiers are terrorizing the community and those in solidarity with them.

This is a time for all of us to stand together at this crucial moment and take a stand for Palestinian rights — especially here in the United States where our government finances Israel’s cruel military to the tune of $3.8 billion a year.

This ask is one of the most important we’ve ever had for you: can you please take just a few minutes to call your Representative today?

All you need to do is call (202) 225-3121 and you’ll be connected to your Representative’s office. Once you get a staff member on the line (or if you’re asked to leave a voice message), Mention your name, your address, and ask your Representative to do the following:

Join the Pocan-Newman letter:  Representatives Marie Newman and Mark Pocan are leading an important letter to urge Secretary of State Tony Blinken and the Biden Administration to express their concern about Israel’s imminent plan to forcibly displace nearly 2,000 Palestinians in the Jerusalem neighborhoods of Al-Bustan and Sheikh Jarrah and calls upon the Department of State to exert diplomatic pressure to prevent these acts from taking place. The letter will be sent to Secretary Blinken on Thursday, so please use your representative to join the letter today!

Publicly condemn Israel’s attacks on Palestinians in Jerusalem. Many members of Congress have issued press releases or social media posts condemning Israel’s attacks. Call on your representative to join them.

While the videos of tear gas and sound grenades are heartbreaking and enraging, the imagery of tens of thousands of Palestinians praying Tarawih with resilience fills us with hope and commitment.

Moreover, ICNA and USCMO have decided to designate Saturday, May 15, 2021, as a Day of Solidarity with Al Aqsa and Palestine. Stay tuned for more information.

May our faith be as steadfast as theirs; while they brave a military assault, they remain unwavering. May our support for their struggle be unwavering.

Mohsin Ansari, MD

Chairman, USCMO

President, ICNA
